8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Short Course: Introduction to Quantitative Financial Analytics using R:  (Michael Weylandt (Lead), Kim Raath, and Carly Fagnant). Department of Statistics, Rice University.  Please bring a laptop for the best learning experience. Registration cost is $100 – Financial assistance is available for Rice Students (contact Phyllis Huitron). Course will be held in Duncan Hall, Rm 3076.

This course will cover using R for financial data acquisition;  exploratory data analysis of financial data; visualization; elementary statistical analysis; basic financial modeling including back-testing. The course will be offered in an interactive environment with example code that students will modify and tweak throughout the course.

12:30 p.m. Lunch for registered course participants at Rice University’s Cohen House will be provided.
